Support

Email is the only channel, and it is the one that releases a device. There is no automated path for that yet — on purpose.

Moving TARANG to another machine

Your key activates one device. If that machine has been replaced, reimaged or has died, we release the seat by hand so you can activate the new one.

Write from the email address on the account. Do not include your licence key — we can look it up, and it should not travel by email.

Purchasing and invoices

Institutional buyers usually cannot pay by card. Request an invoice from the dashboard and we will send bank details or accept a purchase order; kinds are switched on when payment clears.

Common questions

Where is my licence key?

On your dashboard, behind sign-in. It is deliberately never emailed and never put in a link.

Can I run TARANG on a cluster node and my laptop?

Not on one account today. Each account activates a single machine. For multi-node use, email us and we will work out what you need.

What happens when a kind expires?

That kind stops opening. The rest of the application, and the other kind if still in date, is unaffected — expiry is per kind, not per account.

Does TARANG need the internet?

Yes, at the moment you start a simulation. TARANG checks your licence each time a run begins, so the machine must be able to reach our licence service then. Once a run has started it does not contact us again — a connection dropping mid-simulation will not stop it.

Can I run on a compute node with no internet access?

Not today. Every run needs to reach the licence service as it starts, so an air-gapped or firewalled node cannot begin one. Email us if that is your environment — it is the case we most want to hear about.

I cannot sign in.

Use “Forgot password?” on the sign-in page first — it sends a reset code to your email. If the address itself is wrong or unreachable, email us from any address and say which account it is.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — redeem TARANG15 on your dashboard for a 15-day trial of both kinds, once per account. No payment method is needed to redeem it, and it does not auto-convert to a paid licence: when it ends, locked kinds simply lock again until you buy.

How do I activate my licence key the first time?

Install TARANG, open it, and paste the key from your dashboard when asked. It binds to that machine immediately and the app will not ask again on that device.

I reinstalled Windows (or my Linux distro) on the same computer — why does TARANG say it's a different device?

The device identity TARANG binds to comes from the operating system installation, not the physical hardware — reinstalling the OS genuinely creates a new one, even on unchanged hardware. This is expected, not a bug. Email us to release the old binding, the same as moving to different hardware.

Do you support GPU acceleration?

Yes, on both platforms, if an NVIDIA driver is present — the installer detects it and offers to include CuPy and the CUDA runtime. No separate CUDA Toolkit install is needed. CPU-only works everywhere, just slower for large grids.

Can I see or modify the solver source code?

The released application is obfuscated — that is what makes the licence check meaningful. A licence gives you the right to run the software, not a copy of its source. If you need to extend the solver for your own research, talk to us; that is a different conversation from a standard licence.

What happens to my simulation results if my licence expires or I uninstall?

They are untouched either way. Results are written to your own machine (under your user output folder, not inside the install directory), so they are not deleted by an expiring kind or by uninstalling the application. Only the ability to start new runs is affected.

Does TARANG collect or upload my simulation data?

No. The only thing that leaves your machine is the licence check itself — a salted device identifier and which kind you're about to run, answered with a signed yes/no. Your parameters, your results, your .h5 files never leave your computer unless you send them somewhere yourself. See the Privacy Notice for the exact detail.

How do I uninstall TARANG?

Windows: Settings → Installed apps → TARANG → Uninstall, same as any other application — it removes the app and its runtime environment, and leaves your results folder alone. Linux: there is no uninstaller script yet; remove ~/.local/share/TARANG by hand.

Will TARANG update itself automatically?

Not yet — there is no in-app update check today. Re-running the installer you downloaded, whenever a new version is out, safely updates an existing install in place rather than creating a second copy; your results and settings are unaffected.

What operating systems are supported?

Windows 10/11 and Linux (tested on Ubuntu; anything recent enough to run a current conda environment should work). No macOS build exists yet.

Windows warned me about an "unknown publisher" when I ran the installer — is that normal?

For now, yes. The installer is not yet code-signed, so SmartScreen shows that warning for a program it does not recognise. Choose "More info" → "Run anyway" to proceed. This will go away once a signing certificate is in place.

Can I get a refund?

See the Terms of use's purchase terms for the current policy. In short: before a key has been activated on any device, yes; once activated, we look at it case by case — email us and explain what happened.

Do your prices include GST?

Listed prices are exclusive of tax; GST is added on the invoice for customers billed within India, at the applicable rate.

What is the difference between the HYDRO and MHD kinds?

HYDRO is incompressible hydrodynamic turbulence — velocity field only. MHD adds a coupled magnetic field, with its own injection and helicity diagnostics. They are licensed and priced separately because they are genuinely separate solvers, not a feature toggle.
